Last week's Reddit Meetup in Hollywood inspired a video of comics giving shout-outs to redditors. It also inspired creating a place to post said video once Oscar Madness subsides.
Perhaps being a long-time Whose Line Is It Anyway? fan made it nerve wracking to say anything more than quick "hi" to Greg Proops and Michael McShane. It was an amazing experience to see them in person let alone watch them perform at Meltdown.
The LA crowd loved laughing at the quick wit of all the talent in the room. The performers were very gracious about meeting fans afterward and it felt like the audience was a part of something special.
Danny Lobell, a storyteller on This American Life was also in town with journalist Kylie Jane Wakefield. New Yorkers are great to have around because they're used to staying out late; the night continued onto the Laugh Factory in hopes of seeing Rick Overton and friends perform a set.
Without reading the marquee, it was a fun surprise to find Dane Cook inside on stage, promoting his return to standup. Later, Kevin Nealon joined the spotlight and interviewed him in that engaging way everyone loves.
Their set ended shortly after 11pm so unfortunately not enough time for Rick Overton. Hopefully there will be a follow up later this month. New York doesn't close early like LA... maybe an after hours comedy show is in order?
